How Inbound SMS work?

xSMS currently covers 819 networks in 220+ countries for outbound messages and almost 100 countries for inbound messages (two-way SMS).

With xSMS you can easily send SMS to your customers, prospects, employees or partners and can even set workflow rules to send automated SMSs. But what if your customers want to reply back with their response, xSMS supports inbound SMS handling very efficiently as well.

For setting up inbound services you need to procure either

  • Long Code or Virtual Mobile Number OR
  • Short Code

Long Code (VMN):

Long code or VMN is virtual mobile number which your customer can use to text back. VMN is country specific and local SMS rates apply when customers send text to VMN.

Your VMN can also be used as your sender Id so that customers can actually reply to text sent by you. VMN is always dedicated to your business and cannot be shared among different businesses. However you can procure multiple VMN, may be for each country you operate in.

xSMS charges a setup fee and a monthly rental fee. A small switching fee (currently 1/3 of a credit) is charged for all inbound messages that you receive. Normal fees are charged for outbound messaging. Please refer to the table below for setup and rental costs.

Dedicated Short-Code:

A shortcode gives you a "from" number that that can be easily memorized by your customers, suppliers or employees, enabling them to respond to SMS text messages.

Standard shortcodes typically work across all major mobile operators and are assigned to an organization or company, which can use the number for SMS text messaging services. Mobile users receiving or sending messages to standard shortcodes are NOT charged any premium fees for SMS messages.

We only charge you a small fee (1/3 of credit) for each inbound message that you receive. In addition a once-off setup fee and a fixed monthly rental fee are also charged. These charges depend on the country and number type you choose.

xSMS provides a hassle-free shortcode registration service for you and manages the complete application and provisioning process in the destination country. Please email us at sales@xarlesys.com for more information arounf short-code pricing.
